Frequently asked questions.
1. Do you only design kitchens?
No – while kitchens are our speciality, we also design and build bespoke wardrobes, utility rooms, bathrooms, and fitted furniture for any space in your home.
2. Where do you work?
We are based in Lewes, East Sussex, and regularly work across Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and London. For larger projects, we can travel further afield by arrangement.
3. What makes Oak & Stone Kitchens different?
We combine timeless craftsmanship with modern functionality. Every project is completely bespoke — built to measure, using high-quality materials such as solid oak, oak-veneered plywood, and custom spray finishes.
4. Do you offer free design consultations?
Yes. We start with a free initial consultation to discuss your ideas, budget, and style preferences. From there, we can create design concepts and detailed quotations tailored to your project.
5. How long does a project take?
Lead times vary depending on the size and complexity of the job. A typical kitchen project usually takes 8–12 weeks from final design sign-off to installation. Smaller fitted furniture projects may be quicker.
6. What budget should I allow?
Our bespoke kitchens typically start from £20,000, including design, fabrication, and installation. Wardrobes and smaller joinery projects start from around £3,000. Every project is costed individually.
7. Do you supply appliances, worktops, and fittings?
Yes — we can supply and install everything, including appliances, sinks, taps, worktops (stone, wood, composite), handles, and lighting. Alternatively, we’re happy to work with items you have already chosen.
8. Are you VAT registered?
At present, Oak & Stone Kitchens is not VAT registered, meaning our quotes are free of VAT. (This may change as we grow, but we’ll always be transparent about pricing.)
9. How do payments work?
We usually ask for:
A small booking deposit to secure your slot
50% deposit (less the booking fee) before production
The remaining balance upon completion and sign-off
10. Can you match existing furniture or colour schemes?
Yes — we regularly colour-match paints (e.g. Farrow & Ball, Little Greene) and finishes, and we can replicate detailing to complement existing furniture or interiors.
11. Do you provide aftercare?
Absolutely. We want your furniture to last for decades. We provide care advice on finishes, and if anything needs adjustment after installation, we’re always happy to help.
